This Privacy Policy describes how China Shikhi (“the App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), developed by KA Genius, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application. China Shikhi is a Chinese (Mandarin) language learning app designed for Bengali-speaking users.

By using China Shikhi, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

  1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide China Shikhi does not require account creation or login. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number directly through the App unless you voluntarily contact us via email.

1.2 Text You Enter for Translation and AI Tutor When you use the Translator feature, the Chinese or Bengali text you type is sent to Google Cloud Translation API for processing and is not stored on our servers.

When you use the AI Tutor feature, your questions and messages are sent to third-party AI service providers — specifically Google Gemini API and DeepSeek API — to generate responses. Only the text you type is sent; no images, audio, video, or personally identifying information (such as your name or email) is transmitted. This text is processed to provide you with an answer and is not linked to your identity.

1.3 Automatically Collected Information The App may automatically collect limited technical information to ensure proper functioning, including:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App usage data (e.g., which categories or features you use, daily streak, quiz progress)
  • Crash logs and performance data, to help us fix bugs and improve stability

This data is stored locally on your device (e.g., via local app storage) for features like progress tracking, recent categories, and daily usage limits. We do not currently use any analytics or tracking SDKs that share this data with third parties, beyond what is described in this policy.

1.4 Local Usage Limits To manage costs of our paid translation and AI services, the App enforces daily usage limits (e.g., a maximum number of translations or AI Tutor questions per day). This is tracked locally on your device and is not linked to any personal identity.

1.5 Notifications China Shikhi may send you local reminder notifications to help you maintain a regular learning habit (e.g., daily study reminders). These reminders are generated and scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve sending any data to our servers or any third party. You can disable these notifications at any time through your device’s Settings.

  1. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide core app functionality (vocabulary categories, flashcards, quizzes, translator, AI Tutor)
  • Process translation requests via Google Cloud Translation API
  • Process AI Tutor conversations via our AI service providers (Google Gemini API and DeepSeek API)
  • Track your learning progress and streaks locally on your device
  • Send local reminder notifications to support your learning habit
  • Enforce fair usage limits on paid API features
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

These third-party providers process data according to their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing:

Data sent to DeepSeek may be processed on servers located outside your country, including in China. By using the AI Tutor feature, you acknowledge this cross-border data transfer.

  1. Advertising

China Shikhi does not currently display any advertisements. If we introduce advertisements in a future update (for example, via Google AdMob), this Privacy Policy will be updated in advance to disclose the ad network used, the data it may collect (such as advertising identifiers), and your choices regarding personalized ads. We encourage users to review this page periodically.

  1. Data Storage and Security
  • Most of your app data (progress, streaks, recently viewed categories, daily usage counters) is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
  • Text sent for translation or AI Tutor responses is transmitted securely (via encrypted HTTPS connections) to the respective third-party service providers for processing only, and is not permanently stored by us.
  • Local reminder notifications are scheduled and managed entirely on your device.
  • We take reasonable technical measures to protect any data that is transmitted, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
  1. Children’s Privacy

China Shikhi is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below so we can take appropriate action.

  1. Your Choices and Rights
  • You can use most features of the App without providing any personal information.
  • You can disable reminder notifications at any time via your device’s Settings.
  • You can uninstall the App at any time, which will remove all locally stored data (progress, streaks, usage counters) from your device.
  • If you have questions about data processed by third-party services (Google Cloud Translation API, Google Gemini API, or DeepSeek API), you may also refer to their respective privacy policies linked above.
  1. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements (for example, if we introduce advertisements or new features). We will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
